Fire Hotspots Across Indonesia in Early September 2026

September 15, 2026 (Bernama) -- Satellite data from NASA’s Fire Information for Resource Management System (FIRMS) show fire hotspots remaining widespread across parts of Indonesia from Sept 1 to 14, 2026, particularly in Kalimantan, Sumatra and Java.

Hotspots remained heavily concentrated across Kalimantan throughout the two-week period, with numerous detections also appearing across Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi. The number of visible detections fell around Sept 7–10 before increasing again towards Sept 14, particularly across the southern half of Kalimantan and parts of Sumatra.

The red marks indicate heat sources detected by satellite. They do not show the size of each fire or where the smoke travelled.
